Hostel Discount Cards

Last week I talked about Budget Backpacker Hostel (BBH) card. The card is perfect if you are backpacking your way across New Zealand, but not so much for the rest of the world. What’s one to do if the kiwi country isn’t on their flight plan. Surely there must be other hostels cards or something of that nature for budget travelers.

If hostels don’t scare you, then there are a number of hostel discount cards on the market that expand pass New Zealand. Some of these include:

  • YHA/HI – Youth Hosteling Assocation / Hostelling International. This hostel discount card cost $28 and the “chain” has hostels worldwide. Membership includes a guide, card, map, eKit communication booklet, and other discounts.
  • Hostels of Europe - The Hostels in Europe discount card is cheaper than a International Student ID card, about $15. The card only gets you a discount if you book your hostel online. You will get $2 off your reservation.

If you are looking to save a few extra bucks on your trip, these hostel discount cards could be the way to go. Avid travelers who stay at hostels more than their own house will surely think of these cards as a good investment.
