This is an addendum to an older post – SaynaCayley is dreaming of going to Morocco, and wants to know if that makes sense as a woman traveling solo. What do you think?

She should absolutely go. I’m female and have traveled solo, though not through the mideast/africa per se. With common sense and some safety tips she should be fine.
The common belief is that Morocco is among the safest places to travel for westerners in both Africa and the Muslim world. I’ve had many a fearful American traveler tell me they felt totally safe there.
Morocco – It’s a great place to travel. Morocco has managed to preserve a great deal of its traditional culture, including architecture, dress and food, while trying hard to be hospitable to foreign people and influences. In the main, it succeeds very well. We lived there for two years, have been back since, and plan to visit again this summer. As in any country, respect the local dress code (no shorts, ladies no revealing clothing) and customs, and you’ll very likely have a great experience.
