In the grand tradition of publicity stunts involving people riding, walking, running or hitchhiking for something, here’s yet another: Ride for Climate: The Americas

”Starting in November 2005, I am riding my bicycle from California to southern Argentina to raise awarness of global warming and how it will affect the Americas. I am visiting schools, publicizing the potential dangers of global warming, and encouraging people to take action. When I am finished, I will return and join Ride for Climate USA in a similar journey across the U.S.”

The ‘I’ in that paragraph is David Kroodsma, a former Carnegie climate change guy. He’s currently in Bolivia and his biked over 11,000 miles in the past year.
