There are a number of tour operators that offer multi-day sea kayaking in Belize. But the most prominent one is Island Expeditions. They have are large staff of professionals. Many of which are trained in wilderness first aid, swiftwater rescue, and kayaking instruction.

With a wide variety of sea kayaking trips in Belize, the one we rated was the Coral Jaguar Expedition, which made Outside Magazine’s 48 Trips of a Lifetime. Island Expeditions still runs Belize trips but no longer sells that itinerary under that name, so start from their current list.

It ran 10 days and mixed sea kayaking with snorkeling, fishing, river travel, whitewater, hiking, Maya culture, photography and wildlife, on selected December-to-March dates for $2089. A comparable trip today costs several times that, so treat the figure as a period marker, not a quote.

You can easily find one and two person recreational kayaks that are perfect for cruising up and down the coast or for finding that perfect snorkeling spot. Some outfitters also offer more ocean worthy sea kayaks. These kayaks are for your own private multi day trips.

Single and double recreational kayaks usually cost between $25 and $50 for a full day. Most places wont rent these by the week. Rentals for long term, fiberglass sea kayaks usually start at around $300 a week and up.
