The Snow is Here!
Friday afternoon, as we were navigating through blowing snow at the top of Brazos Pass in Northern New Mexico, I couldn’t help but wonder what things were like just to the north of us in the Colorado Rockies, often the barometer for an early winter season.
As it turns out, up to three feet of snow fell in 48 hours at Silverton Mountain resort in the gorgeous San Juans. The all-extreme ski resort says that another storm like this, and they’ll be ready to open, way ahead of schedule. The folks at Loveland and Arapahoe Basin are furiously making snow on the heels of back to back storms in an attempt to be the first areas open for the year in the country.
The bad news? Looks like the storms have put an early end to leaf-peeping season in the rockies. Oh well…
